-This event was first held in 1976 in commemoration of the 850th year of the establishment of Chiba prefecture, and is the 42nd year to hold this historical event.
- This race draws many runners from all over Japan as one of the new races in spring in Chiba and draws many new first runners.

Notes
The event for this year will not be held at ZOZO Marine Stadium due to renovation works. The main venue will be Makuhari Kaihin Park instead. Also, please note that event information is subject to change.

Participant criteriaCategory 1 Registrants Sun Sports Chiba Marine Marathon Race
(1) A registered member for the year 2017 of the Japan Association of Athletics Federation
(2) Limited to those who are 18 years old or over on the day of the race (21 January 2018)
(3) Runners who have agreed to the terms and conditions at the time of entry as stated on the event website.
(4) Runners who have received medical clearance (medical certificate) before the race event

Category 2 General citizen runners
A healthy general citizen runner who agrees to comply with the race rules and terms and conditions
(1) Runners who have agreed to the terms and conditions at the time of entry as stated on the event website.
(2) Participation of the event on race day is limited to the person who is registered.(Subsititute runners are not permitted, Violaters will be disqualified and insurance and recognition will not be recognised or applied.
(3) Runners who havereceived medical clearance before the race event and are not suffering from anything that would hinder their participation.
(4) Participants who are under the age of 18 will require the consent of a parent/guardian.
Course featuresJapan Association of Athletics Federation certified course (half marathon)
A seaside course which runs past major Chiba attractions including the ZOZO marine stadium, Makuharu Messe, Makuhari Kaihin Park, Inage Kaihin Park
The course is flat and wide and ideal for beginners, and a good time record can be achieved.
The course will run through the Inage Kaihin Park promenade and runners can enjoy the forest scenery and cool breeze.

Prizes/AwardsPrizes available for the top 3 placegetters in each category. Certificates and additional prizes may be awarded up to 8th place.
1st-3rd placegetters in each age category will be announced later a few days after the event. Certificates will be mailed out (with the exception of the family category)
Other informationGrade/Record
For participants who complete the 10km or half marathon category will be given a finish time. In addition, a certificate will be issued with the net time (adusted from when you crossed the start line).
The time record certifcate will beissued on the Web several days after the event. Time certificates will not be issued on the day.
Internert recording information service will be used.
Please note that personal use chips (yellow chips) can not be used.
All participants who complete within the time limit will be published in the Sankei Sports (Sanspo) (East Japan edition) (Scheduled for late January/early February 2018)

Changing room facilities
Men and women's changing room tent will be provided at the race venue. However, please note space is limited, so please be considerate of others.
Required informationWe will require the following necessary information: Age on race day, daytime contact number, your expected best time for the race category you are participating in, school name or affiliated oranisation, registered athletics association etc.
Items that will be sent in advanceThe race organising committee will send race number cards and chips in early January 2018.

RegistrationThere will be no on the day registration/check-in. Race bib number cards and chips will be sent in advance.
Shuttle busA bus will run from Makuhari Hongu train station (JR Sobu lie and Keisei Chiba line)
A special marathon shuttle bus will be in operation (15min bus ride) (fare will apply)

Time cut-off limitsHalf marathon: 2hours and 45 minutes
Cut-off points: 5km mark within 35minutes, 10km mark within 1hr 10min, 15km within 1hr 55min, and 20km mark within 2hrs 35min.

For each event, if you miss the start time, you will not be allowed to run.

Please make sure you arrive at the starting area based on the order of your number card (which is based on the expected finish time which you declared at the time of application). If you did not indicate your expected time or if an incorrect or inappropriate time was entered, you may be allocated to the last starting group.

Please attach your race bib number to the front and back of your body with the provided safety pins

Participants who are not well or are not in fit physical condition should voluntarily withdraw from the race.

Participants with chronic illness or condition must seek medical clearance or consult a doctor in advance of the race day. Please prepare accordingly for the race.

The race organiser will provide accident insurance coverage for all participants

Terms and conditionsApplication/registration terms and conditions
At the time of registering, participants agree to the below terms and conditions

(1) The race organiser shall not take any responsibility in the case of accident, injury or loss, except for the provision of emergency first aid.

(2) No changes or cancellations for any reason will be permitted.

(3) We will not accept false declarations in relation to age or gender. Only the registered applicant may participate in the race. In the case of a substitute runner, the participant, will be disqualified.

(4) Entry free will not be refunded in the event that the race is cancelled due to earthquake, storm, flood, snow, accident, incident, epidemic etc.

(5) No refund or difference in money or deposit will be given in the event of points 2 and 3 above.

(6) The organiser reserves the right to record and publish the event by way of photos, articles, videos, records, publication in newspapers, magazines, internet etc.

(7) In addition to the above registration terms and conditions, the organiser will hold the event in compliance with convention rules
Handling of personal informationThe race organisers acknowledge the importance of personal information and strictly observe the relevant laws and regulations related to the handling of personal information, and handles information in accordance with its own personal information protection policy. For the purpose of improving the service provided to participants in the event, information will be used for participation guidance, time records (rankings), event notices that may be issued to participants, and provision of services from related organisations/sponsors. Personal information may be used by the race organiser to contact participants. Those who do not wish to be contacted regarding event information, please inform the race oganising committee.
